Makenna Givens is a San Diego based artist working in multiple mediums, including acrylic paint, collage, sculpture, and textile. Her most recent body of work reflects on the fragility and value of life through the use of contradictory materials and animal motifs. The work is informed by the process of searching for discarded and forgotten materials, which then become cherished.
She craves connection with others, creating opportunities for shared understanding through personal artworks. She is passionate about sharing art with young people and contributing to inclusion for individuals with disabilities.
In May of 2026, she graduated with a BA in Art Education from Point Loma Nazarene University. She is now beginning her career teaching art to high school students in the San Diego area. She is currently teaching private art lessons to elementary aged children.
